​烏來記憶 (WULAI)

「河流」,對於泰雅族來說,是族人遷徙的重要路徑與指標,河流在我的創作上也恰恰與我生長的土地及自我認同有關。對我來說,在這邊土地上所有的勞動,是一件非常深刻的記憶。-Yukan

 

"River", for the Atayal people, is an important path and indicator for the migration of the tribe. In my creation, the river is precisely related to the land where I grew up and my self-identity. For me, all the labor on the land here is a very profound memory. -Yukan

「藍白帆布」輕便、便宜、遮風、擋雨的特性,使其在部落生活的使用處處可見。但當藍白帆布不再只是一工具,而是重新被賦予成說故事的媒介時,又會變成什麼樣貌?創作者試著將其重新解構與組織,以別於傳統編織的作法,改用手編重新製作,試著從這個具有時代風格的當代編織作品中,以一種更安靜地、更藝術性的方式向觀眾分享「烏來最美麗的風景不是瀑布,而是逐德拉楠流域而居的泰雅文化及生活於其中的族人們。

 

"Blue and white canvas" is lightweight, cheap, windproof and rainproof, making it widely used in tribal life. But what will it look like when the blue-and-white canvas is no longer just a tool, but is repurposed as a storytelling medium? I tried to re-deconstruct and organize it, different from the traditional weaving method, and remade it by hand knitting. I tend to make a statement to the audience with this contemporary knitting artwork in a quieter and more artistic way that "The most beautiful scenery in Wulai is not the waterfall, but the Atayal culture and the people living in the Tranan River Basin.
